Training Directorate

Amentum's training team is, experienced, knowledgeable, ethical, and mission-focused. It is dedicated and committed to enabling the Government to adjust to future flight training, training support and training service support needs with maximum ease and flexibility. Amentum is the Government's "right arm" organization for prompt, professional, and dependable training regardless of the mission.

The Training Directorate is the major production element in the Amentum organization. It is managed by the Director of Training and is comprised of the Primary, Advanced, Basic Warfighter Skills, Academics and Air Force Divisions, training over 1500 flight students per year. Amentum will continue to reflect a forward-looking vision to support the Army's aviation training mission at the highest levels of professionalism and productivity.

Amentum's proactive Safety Program maintains a seamless integration with the training program where adherence to safety is paramount. Amentum's experienced and qualified trainers are dedicated to achieve one goal:

Safety Directorate

Amentum leads the way in safety at the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE). We are the first to introduce aviation and safety to those who aspire to become Army and Air Force Rotary Wing Aviators. We take our mission seriously to train Army, Air Force and Allied Nation students how to think like an aviator and how to operate military helicopters from the most simple to the most complex aspects of military rotary wing flight. Amentum conducts this training to new pilots every day and night. We do so with an industry leading, low accident rate.

Our instructors and staff have more cumulative experience than one can find anywhere else. Our highly trained and experienced safety staff has extensive expertise derived from their combined years of hands on experience and formal education in their fields:

Aviation: 104 years

Military: 82 years

Safety: 59 years

Education: 21 years Graduate and Undergraduate

Years on contract: 32

Credentials: Instrument, Multi-Engine and Certified Flight Instructor certifications, Federal Aviation Safety Officer, Army Instructor Pilot, Standardization Pilot , Instrument Examiner, NTSB Accident Investigation and DoD Accident Investigation Board President certifications. Experience: Platoon Leader, Commander, Army Battalion and Brigade Safety Management, Battalion Standardization Management, Navy and Civilian Safety Program Management, Airline Pilot, Emergency Management operations, OSHA Compliance Officer, Personnel Recovery Operations Management.

Quality Directorate

Amentum's Rotary Wing Flight Training (RWFT) organization is ISO 9001:2015 certified with a Quality and Standardization team that is, experienced, knowledgeable, ethical, and mission-focused. It is dedicated and committed to enabling the Government to adjust to future flight training, training support and training service support needs with maximum ease and flexibility. The Quality Directorate is the quality control element in the Amentum RWFT organization. It is managed by the Director of Quality with surveillance and oversight by the Director of Standardization. It is comprised of the Cairns Methods of Instruction (MOI), (Primary and Instruments), Shell MOI (Basic Warfighter Skills) Standardization Instructor pilots, Academic’s and Air Force Division’s Quality Control personal Standardization responsible for the training of all newly hired personnel and existing instructor pilots. Amentum will continue to reflect a forward-looking vision to support the Army's aviation training mission at the highest levels of professionalism, quality and standardization.

STDS/QC - Primary | We Set the Standard

STDS/QC provides Quality Control oversight for all academics and Initial Entry Rotary Wing (IERW) flight instruction conducted within the Primary Division. This covers daily flight briefing, academic class presentation, Instructor Pilot/student records and No Notice Evaluation Program. Additionally retains the overall responsibility for training all newly hired Amentum Instructor Pilots and Military Quality Assurance personnel.

Instruction Overview

This course consists of 41.5 hours to be flown in 32 training days. The average daily block time is 5.5 hours. Tasks selected for training are derived from the references below:
